** 2004 U-14 League Tournament **
The 2004 NCGSL U-14 league tournament was held August 7th - 8th at Brookside Park in Ellington. Pool play on Saturday with three groups of four teams determined seeding for Sunday's single-elimination bracket. The team groups were designated by final standings in the regular season as Red (1-6-7-12), White (2-5-8-11) and Blue (3-4-9-10). The Red group consisted of Manchester Blue, Ellington, South Windsor and West Hartford II. White was made up of Enfield, Vernon, Manchester Red and East Hartford. Blue group consisted of Somers, Suffield, East Windsor and West Hartford I. Marlborough withdrew because of insufficient players.

Manchester Blue successfully defended their U-14 tournament championship with an 8-0 victory over a tough West Hartford I team. League co-MVP Katie Viara pitched a complete game, striking out six. She also had one of the eight Manchester hits and six assists on defense. Becca Thompson went 2 for 2 and Annie Rosenstreich hit a double for Blue. Lindsey Johnson, Amy Howroyd, Annie Pagano and Marisa Conyers also had hits. Coached by Bob Viara, the overall defense was solid during the entire game, with Nicole Sapienza, Maura Bergan, Melanie Berman and Michele Graboski all contributing. Manchester Blue became the first NCGSL team to win every one of their games in a season, 12-0 for the regular season and 6-0 in the tournament.
Nicole Stankoski pitched four strong innings for West Hartford before being relieved by Katie Mainelli. Mainelli before then had notched five assists at third base. She and Allison Czapla were also the producers on offense with two hits apiece. Coached by Mark Stankoski, West Hartford I had a 4 and 8 record for the regular season, entered the tournament as the #6 seed and skillfully fought their way to the tournament final.
