GAME SCHEDULE and SUMMARIES
- Week #1 - Saturday, September 10th
At New State Road Field, Manchester
9:00AM - Suffield 6, Manchester 4. Suffield defeated Manchester 6-4 in a well played game by both teams. Lauren Mercik went the distance for the win and Sam Cieri led the offense, going 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and a walk. Manchester's Lauren Orlowski also pitched a complete game and collected three hits. Marisa Conyers also had three hits and scored twice for Manchester.
10:30AM - Suffield 6, South Windsor/Vernon 0. In the second game Suffield defeated South Windsor/Vernon 6-0 behind Angela Moskwa's strong pitching performance. Michele Niejadlik led the offense for Suffield, going 2 for 3 with a double, single and two runs scored. South Windsor/Vernon's Dana Carpenter pitched a solid complete game and Desirae Hewitt and Sara Cherepinsky played well defensively.
12:00PM - Manchester 13, South Windsor/Vernon 9. Manchester rallied in the fourth inning to score eight runs in a come from behind win against the South Windsor/Vernon team. Melanie Berman pitched most of the game with Lauren Orlowski pitching the last inning in relief. The entire Manchester team had hits. Lauren Orlowski and Marisa Conyers had two hits apiece and Marisa has six stolen bases. Jordan Barile and Dana Carpenter combined to pitch for the South Windsor/Vernon team with Colleen Clark, Chelsea Ellington, Sara Cherepinsky and Breanna Weaver providing the offense.
At East Windsor High School
9:00AM - Windsor 8, East Windsor 1. Windsor defeated East Windsor 8-1 in 6 innings. Nina Varney pitched a superb 3-hitter, striking out eight. She supported her effort with a walk and a hit, scoring a run and driving in another. Melissa Wilhelm had three hits and a walk, scoring three runs. Jenna Olander caught an excellant game and hit a long triple to left field, driving in a run. For East Windsor, Ginger Starvish played an excellant game at catcher. Courtney Martin had two of East Windsor's three hits. Michelle Vining played a strong outfield defensively.
10:30AM - Farmington Valley 8, Windsor 5. Becca Raymond led Farmington Valley (Simsbury/East Granby), holding Windsor hitless and scoreless for three innings. She also headed the offense with a double, single and two RBIs. Danielle Somen closed out the no-hitter in relief with two strong innings. Jill Roop and Kim Winalski each added a hit and a run scored while playing well defensively. Abby Rodriguez played an excellant game at shortstop for Windsor. Caroline Aldrich pitched well in relief for Windsor, walked twice and scored a run. Shauna Greene walked in both plate appearances.
12:00PM - East Windsor 11, Farmington Valley 6. For East Windsor, Ashley McHugh, Jessica Szymanski and Ginger Starvish each had two hits. Becca Raymond collected three hits for Farmington Valley. Abbey Williams and Amanda Sullivan pitched well.
- Week #2 - Saturday, September 17th
At New State Road, Manchester
9:00AM - Windsor 4, Suffield 2. Amanda Ross pitched the win as Windsor downed Suffield. Left fielder Andrea Varney, who scored Windsor's first run, and third baseman Vicki Goldberg led a solid defensive effort. April McWha doubled and scored for Suffield. Angie Moskwa had a hit and Kalleigh Peterson had a good game defensively.
10:30AM - Windsor 4, Manchester 4 (tie). Jackie Mendola hit a long RBI-triple and scored a run as Windsor and Manchester played to a 4-4 deadlock. She also played excellant defense at first base and catcher. Angela Moskwa pitched well in relief and also had a hit. Lauren Mercik walked twice and scored a run. Ann Rosenstreich doubled and singled for Manchester. Lauren Orlowski pitched a complete game, doubled and scored a run. Andrea Chudzik also had a single.
12:00PM - Manchester 11, Suffield 9. Manchester posted an 11-9 victory over Suffield. Melanie Berman struck out seven in the first three innings and Lauren Orlowski did a great job holding Suffield to only three runs during the balance of the game. Notable hitting performances for Manchester included two doubles and a single for Lauren Orlowski, two bunt singles by Nicole Sapienza and two singles for Maura Bergan. Suffield defensive standouts were Lauren Mercik and Melanie Chapman. Maggie Reeves had two hits for Suffield.
At Osborn Park, East Windsor
9:00AM - South Windsor/Vernon 4, Farmington Valley 0. Dana Carpenter pitched a five-hit shutout to help South Windsor/Vernon defeat Farmington Valley 4-0. South Windsor/Vernon scored four runs in the 7th inning helped by a hard fought walk by Sara Cherepinsky and a perfect bunt by Breanna Weaver. Amy Rapuano pitched well for Farmington the first half of the game and Jill Roop did well defensively and Amanda Sullivan offensively.
10:30AM - Farmington Valley 7, East Windsor 7 (tie). East Windsor and Farmington Valley played to a 7-7 tie. For Farmington Valley, Amanda Sullivan pitched well in relief and the offense was led by Amber Antiuk and Becca Raymond with two hits each. Outfielder Michelle Vining led the East Windsor defense with a key catch. Nicole DeSousa and Jill Cote had good games at the plate.
12:00PM - South Windsor/Vernon 3, East Windsor 0. Maeve Neiswanger and Dana Carpenter had a hit each and scored a run to help South Windsor/Vernon defeat East Windsor 3-0. Dana pitched her second complete shutout of the day. Jordan Barile made an outstanding play to save the start of a big inning. Courtney Martin and Heather St.Amour played well for East Windsor.
- Week #3 - Saturday, September 24th
At New State Road, Manchester
9:00AM - Manchester 3, Farmington Valley 3 (tie). Manchester and Farmington Valley played to a 3-3 tie. Maura Bergan led the offense for Manchester with three hits. Nicole Sapienza, Michelle Grabowski and Chrissie Wakefield added a hit apiece. Becca Raymond and Abbey Williams pitched a strong game for Farmington Valley and Amber Antiuk had two hits.
10:30AM - South Windsor/Vernon 10, Farmington Valley 2. Dana Carpenter earned her third win pitching for South Windsor/Vernon. Jordan Barile reached base all three times at bat, including an RBI-triple. Breanna Weaver played well offensively for the team. Farmington Valley's Amy Rapuano pitched well the first half of the game and Amber Antiuk played well defensively and Amanda Sullivan offensively.
12:00PM - Manchester 5, South Windsor/Vernon 2. Manchester bested South Windsor/Vernon by a score of 5-2 in seven innings of play. For Manchester, Katie Viara pitched a complete game, adding up twelve strikeouts. Annie Rosenstreich had a double and a single, Katie Viara had two singles and Lindsey Johnson, Maura Bergan, Melanie Berman and Andrea Chudzik each had a single. For South Windsor/Vernon Dana Carpenter pitched four innings, allowing only one run. Sarah Cherepinsky and Erin Sullivan played a strong defensive game.
At Osborn Park, East Windsor
9:00AM - Suffield 20, East Windsor 4. Suffield's bats came alive against East Windsor, who played shorthanded. Stars for Suffield were Kalleigh Peterson, April McWha and Michele Niejadlik, who each scored three runs and had two hits. Stars for East Windsor were Ginger Starvish, who scored three runs, Jessica Szymanski, who pitched and scored a run, and Lindsey Mulnite, who played well defensively.
10:30PM - Suffield 8, Windsor 5. Suffield's Lauren Mercik and April McWha combined to pitch a fine game against a powerful Windsor team. Other stars for Suffield were Sam Cieri, who scored two runs, and Michele Niejadlik, who had two hits and scored twice. Stars for Windsor wre Melissa Wilhelm and Nina Varney, who each scored twice, and Amanda Ross, who had three solid hits.
12:00PM - East Windsor 5, Windsor 3. For East Windsor, Courtney Martin reached base three times, Jillian Cote doubled in two runs and Jessica Szymanski was the winning pitcher. For Windsor, Abby Rodriguez had two RBIs, Jenna Olander had a strong game behind the plate and Stefi Varghese was a defensive standout.
- Week #4 - Saturday, October 1st
At New State Road, Manchester
9:00AM - Windsor 6, East Windsor 2. Amanda Ross pitched a strong complete game for Windsor. Jenna Olander doubled, singled, walked and scored a run and had an excellant game at catcher. Melissa Wlihelm had three hits, scored two runs and stole two bases. For East Windsor, Nicole DeSousa played a good game defensively, Heather St.Amour pitched well in relief and Laura McHugh had a single.
10:30AM - Windsor 3, Manchester 1. Nicole Miller earned the win, pitching a complete game and helping her cause with an RBI. Andrea Varney had a hit, two stolen bases, scored and played well defensively. Abby Rodriguez reached base twice and also did well on defense. For Manchester, Lauren Orlowski pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and also had a solid double. Melanie Berman had a double and a single and Chris Wakefield had a single.
12:00PM - East Windsor 7, Manchester 3. For East Windsor, Jillian Cote and Lindsey Mulnite were standouts offensively and defensively. Jessica Szymanski was the winning pitcher. Michelle Grabowski singled for Manchester and pitchers Lauren Orlowski and Melanie Berman combined for three hits.
At Osborn Park, East Windsor
9:00AM - Farmington Valley 5, Suffield 2. Becca Raymond struck out nine over five innings and went 3 for 3 at the plate to lead Farmington Valley past Suffield. Amy Rapuano and Kim Winalski each added key hits and played outstanding defense. For Suffield, Sam Cieri went 2 for 2. Melanie Chapman and Angela Moskwa each singled and scored.
10:30AM - Farmington Valley 7, South Windsor/Vernon 1. Farmington Valley's Danielle Somen struck out nine over seven innings and scored two runs in the win over South Windsor/Vernon. Jill Roop, Abbey Williams and Amanda Sullivan led the offensive effort with a run scored and two hits each. Breanna Weaver had two hits, including an RBI-double scoring Sara Cherepinsky for South Windsor/Vernon's run. Jordan Barile and Dana Carpenter also added hits in the loss.
12:00PM - Suffield 6, South Windsor/Vernon 3. Angela Moskwa went the distance for the win, striking out ten. Melanie Chapman had a great game at the plate going 2 for 3. Dana Carpenter pitched well in the loss.

9:00AM - Manchester vs Windsor.
10:30AM - South Windsor/Vernon vs Manchester.

Single Elimination Tournament - Welsh Park, Windsor

Game A: #2 Windsor 6, #4 Manchester 4. Abby Rodriguez hit a bases clearing double to lead Windsor. Nicole Miller struck out eight while limiting Manchester to four hits. Jackie Mendola stole home on a delayed steal. Manchester fell short despite the offense provided by Marisa Conyers' two hits, Maura Bergan's triple and a double by Melanie Berman.
Game B: #3 Farmington Valley 7, #6 South Windsor/Vernon 6.

Game C: Suffield 5, Farmington Valley 4. Kalleigh Peterson drove in the winning run in the last inning with a perfectly executed squeeze bunt allowing Sam Cieri to slide in under the tag. The win put top seed Suffield into the championship game against Windsor. Rebecca Raymond pitched well in defeat.
Game D: Manchester 4, South Windsor/Vernon 3. Lauren Orlowski pitched her second complete game of the day, striking out seven in five innings. Both Annie Rosenstreich and Melanie Berman went two for three at the plate.

Game E: Suffield 2, Windsor 2 (tie). After seven well played, cold, windy, rainy innings, the game between Suffield and Windsor ended in a 2-2 tie, leaving them as tournament co-champions. Angela Moskwa pitched very well for Suffield, going the distance allowing only 4 hits. Windsor's Amanda Ross settled down after a rough first inning in which she walked four batters, holding Suffield to three hits and allowing one run the rest of the way. Nina Varney had a key double and scored one of Windsor's two runs. Jackie Mendola hit a triple to deep left field and scored the tieing run on Jenna Olander's groundout to first. Congratulations to both teams on a very well played defensive game.
Game F: Manchester 15, Farmington Valley 3. Katie Viara and Lauren Orlowski combined to pitch the win as Manchester claimed third place in the tournament. Maura Bergan led the Manchester offense, going 4 for 4 with two doubles. Lauren Orlowski went 3 for 4 with two doubles, Marisa Conyers had a pair of singles and Katie Viara doubled.
