South Windsor 9, Somers 6. Alyssa Wolejko pitched a complete game for South Windsor, striking out nine. Marianne Specker (3 for 3, 3 RBIs), Jacquie O'Brien (3 for 3) and Jordan Barile (2 for 3, HR) led the offense. Melissa Vamvilis, Jaclyn Shepard and Monica Palmer each had two hits for Somers. Jaclyn hustled the whole game making nice plays at second base while Monica anchored the defense at catcher, throwing out South's fastest runner on an attempted stolen base.
Enfield-Fermi 7, East Windsor 0 (forfeit as a result of using an ineligible player; was EW 11-2). East Windsor opened with a win as Jessica Szymanski (left) pitched a five-hitter and was supported by a strong team defense. Ashley McHugh doubled in two runs and Michelle Vining reached base three times. Leehna Ware had two hits for Enfield. She also pitched well in relief of Camie McComas.
West Hartford 22, Hebron 7. (5 innings) Alicia Lambert pitched West Hartford to an opening win over Hebron, striking out nine and walking one in four innings. Jen Mathews and Jessica Montez both hit triples. Hebron's catcher, Alyssa Hovanec, also hit a triple and had a good game defensively.
Suffield Pink 5, Manchester 4. In a very exciting opening night game, Suffield Pink came from behind to defeat Manchester 5-4. Sam Cieri and April McWha combined for the win, scattering 5 hits over 7 innings. With two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Barb Kaplan's 2-run single put Suffield on top to stay. Jen Thresher had a perfect night at the plate, going 2 for 2 in the win. Manchester's Katie Viera had a very strong game both pitching and hitting with a double, single and 3 RBIs. Andrea Chudzik and Lauren Orlowski also played well for Manchester.
Vernon 18, Enfield Fireballs 0. Dominant defense and pitching held the Fireballs in check as Rebecca Mattern got Vernon started with an over-the-fence 3-run homerun in the first inning. Dana Carpenter pitched a solid game with nine strikeouts. Nicole Albertson closed the game with a diving catch at second base and was able to hang on to the ball. Danielle Allen had a good game defensively for Enfield.
Windsor 3, Granby 0. The Ravens defeated visiting Granby at Welch Park in a well-played opening day game under a beautiful summer evening sky. Caylee Johanson started off the season for Windsor by pitching a complete game shutout, striking out 12 batters and allowing only three hits. Lisa Caruso pitched very well for Granby, recording 10 strikeouts. The game was scoreless going into the bottom of the fifth inning when Windsor managed to get the first two batters on base with a walk to Amanda Ziaks followed by Caylee Johanson, who reached base on a minor fielding hiccup by Granby. This led to the break through in the game when Jackie Mendola delivered a line drive triple to left centerfield, driving in the first two runs of the game. Melissa Wilhelm walked and then scored the third run for Windsor in the sixth inning. Paige Letendre and Amanda Sullivan each had a hit for Granby.

Vernon 8, East Windsor 0. (from 6/22) Hannah Koch pitched the victory, allowing no hits and striking out 14. Danielle Baker had 2 RBIs in the win. Sarah Sweetman had two hits and Sarah Browning played well defensively. For East Windsor, Melissa Hunt and Ashley McHugh played solid games.
Manchester 4, South Windsor 1. Katie Viara (right) struck out nine as Manchester evened their record with a 4-1 win at South Windsor. Lauren Orlowski and Kathryn Howroyd had two hits apiece. Amy Howroyd made two difficult catches in right field and also played solid defense at first base. Jacquie O'Brien pitched well but took the loss, striking out eight. Sara Cherepinsky played well defensively at first base and Alicia Morrison had a good game at the plate.
West Hartford 17, Enfield-Fermi 8. Alicia Lambert picked up the win for West Hartford, recording seven strikeouts. Kyla Walgren and Jessica Montez played very well defensively and the entire team make contributions on offense. Enfield-Fermi's Leehna Ware and Jessica Crank each had a triple to lead their hitters.
Suffield Pink 15, Enfield Fireballs 0. Suffield Pink defeated visiting Enfield Fireballs 15-0 in five innings. April McWha got the win, pitching a no-hitter and striking out seven. Kalleigh Peterson was the defensive standout and Taylor Bartini led the offense for Pink, going 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, single and 2 RBIs. Morgan Caswell, Shari Perez and Lacey Shumskey played well defensively for Enfield.

Mindy Oswell and Monica Palmer each had two doubles. Lauren Mashiak went 3 for 4 while Kara McGuane went 2 for 4 with a single and a double. Michelle Milliken and Kacey Oswell each contributed two hits and Chelsie Merone had a hit. Enfield's Morgan Caswell got their only hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. Crystal Haynes had a good defensive game and Megan Chipman was solid behind the plate.
Manchester 7, Windsor 1. Manchester defeated host Windsor by a score of 7-1. Katie Viara earned the win, striking out eight and walking two. In the second inning, Viara drove in two runs with a double and Melanie Berman hit a 2-run single. Amy Pearl went 3 for 3 while Andrea Chudzik, Maura Bergen and Katie Viara had two hits apiece. Caylee Johanson pitched well for Windsor and Andrea Varney and Kat Edwards had good games defensively.
Suffield Pink 22, West Hartford 8. Suffield Pink defeated West Hartford 22-8. The Pink banged out 18 hits with Jen Silva (5 for 5) leading the way with five singles and 4 RBI. Michele Niejadlik went 4 for 5 with two triples, 2 singles and 7 RBI. Sam Cieri and April McWha again combined for the win, scattering 7 hits and striking out eight. Jess Montez led the offense for West Hartford with two doubles and a walk. Mallorie Crawford and Jen Mathews played well defensively.

West Hartford 16, Enfield Fireballs 4. Kelsey Allen and Lindsey Toper had two hits each as West Hartford beat Enfield on the road. Starter Alicia Lambert (right) and Nicole Stankoski both pitched effectively. Catcher Nicole Malenfant played very well defensively. Sue Scanlon turned a nice double play for Enfield. Olivia Sterlein played a good overall game and scored the Fireballs' first run of the season. Megan Chipman had a good game behind the plate.
Manchester 11, Suffield Rebels 4. Stephanie Grande led Manchester to a 12-4 win over the Suffield Rebels, pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts. Their offense was led by Melanie Berman with 3 hits and Annie Rosenstreich and Marisa Conyers with two hits apiece. Kara Chamberlain, Baitlin Breault and Katherine Spencer starred for the Rebels.
Somers 11, Simsbury 4. Somers scored 8 runs in the top of the seventh inning with seven hits, including a homerun by Kara McGuire, a triple by Chelsie Merone and a double by Alicia Coutois to overcome a 4-3 deficit. Kacey Oswell pitched a complete game for the win and helped herself with 3 hits and two walks. Mindy Oswell also contributed three hits and played a great defensive game. For Simsbury, Rebecca Raymond pitched a good game and Abby Williams had 2 hits and scored twice. Molly Williams went 3 for 4 at the plate.
South Windsor 17, Hebron 7. Jordan Barile pitched a complete game, leading South Windsor to their second win of the season. Rachel Clymer (2 for 3 with 4 runs scored) and Jen Hunt (3 for 4 with 3 runs scored) led the offense. Sara Cherepinsky headed the defense with solid play at first base while Candace Clark had a good overall game including a great catch in left field. Amy Canino led Hebron's hitters with a single, RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Katie Robinson pitched well in relief and Jen Ray led the defense playing well at multiple positions in the field.
Suffield Pink 19, Granby 4. Suffield Pink defeated Granby in a 5-inning game. As a team, Suffield remained hot at the plate with 15 hits. Sam Cieri led the offense going a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with 4 RBIs. April McWha recorded another solid pitching performance, allowing only 5 hits and one run in 4 innings of relief. Malorie Nai had a good game on defense, both at shortstop and in the outfield. Andrea Bastiaanse and Chelsie Hayes led Granby's offense, both going 2 for 3 at the plate. Lisa Caruso also had a good game defensively for Granby.
Enfield-Fermi 5, Vernon 3. Visiting Enfield-Fermi downed Vernon 5-3 as Amanda Farnan pitched a complete game, striking out ten and yielding just five hits. Cammie McComas (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Jess Crank (2 hits, RBI) did the damage on offense. Dana Carpenter pitched well for Vernon, striking out seven. Hannah Koch had two hits including a triple. Becca Mattern also played well with a hit and a run scored for Vernon.
Windsor 9, East Windsor 2. Tracey Sanko and Nicole Miller combined on a 5-hit, eleven strikeout performance as the Windsor Ravens defeated East Wondsor on the road. Abby Caron, Kim Marris, Andrea Varney and Margaret Sava played well defensively for Windsor. Jackie Mendola hit a big triple to right center and scored two runs for the Ravens. Karissa Parker and Heather St.Amour played well for East Windsor.
Windsor 17, Suffield Rebels 2. Caylee Johanson and Nicole Miller combined on a no-hitter, striking out eleven, as the Ravens tamed the Rebels under the lights at Welch Park. For Windsor, Kim Marris, Jackie Mendola, Amanda Ziaks and Amanda Ross each went 2 for 3 and Tracey Sanko went 3 for 3 as the Ravens recorded a total of 18 hits. Sam Bielinski and Taryn Scozzari played well defensively and scored the two Rebel runs in the 4th inning.
Suffield Pink 15, South Windsor 2. Suffield Pink defeated South Windsor 15-2 in another strong offensive performance. April McWha pitched the complete game, allowing 3 hits and striking out five, as well as helping herself by hitting a 2-run homerun. Last week's Player of the Week, Michele Niejadlik, also belted a homerun and drove in two runs, but the offensive star was Jen Silva going 4 for 4 with 4 RBI and two runs scored. South Windsor's Jordan Barile had 2 RBI and Marianne Specker and Candace Clark also had key hits.
West Hartford 9, Simsbury 4. Jen Mathews and Lindsey Toper each had a great game on defense as West Hartford downed Simsbury. Jessica Montez had a triple and scored a run. Kossandra Sundt had a hit late in the game. Alicia Lambert went the distance to earn the win. Simbury pitcher Danielle Somen pitched six strong innings. Grace Abato had a hit and scored a run and also had a good defensive game.

Somers 3, Enfield-Fermi 2. Somers beat visiting Enfield-Fermi 3-2 in a well pitched game by Somers' Kacey Oswell (6Ks) and Fermi's Amanda Farnan (6Ks). Somers got three straight hits in the bottom of the 6th inning from Mindy Oswell, Melissa Vamvilis and Michelle Milliken, who double in Mindy with the go-ahead run. Monica Palmer was solid behind the plate for Somers and contributed with two hits. Nicole Vamvilis had an RBI and played a good defensive game. Catcher Chelsea Aiken and Camie McComas played well on defense for Fermi.
Windsor 3, Suffield Pink 1. Tracet Sanko pitched 5 innings of 2-hit ball and Caylee Johanson finished the game with two no-hit innings as the Ravens defeated the previously unbeaten Pink at Bruce Park. Stephanie Frenette played a great game at second for Windsor, setting up two double plays. Amanda Ziaks scored two runs and played well defensively. Tracey Sanko went 2 for 3 and scored the first run of the game. Sam Cieri and April McWha pitched well for Suffield and Mallorie Nai gave an outstanding effort at shortstop for the Pink.
Vernon 9, South Windsor 0. Hannah Koch pitched Vernon past South Windsor with a 13K shutout and she helped herself at the plate with a 2-run single. Dana Carpenter displayed strong defense at third and first base and also drove in two runs with a single up the middle. Dede Baker also had a good night at the plate. Jordan Barile pitched well for South Windsor while taking the loss. Catcher Jill Toce, Alicia Morrison (2B) and Candace Clark (LF) led the South defense.
Enfield Fireballs 14, Hebron 13. The Enfield Fireballs came away with their first victory of the season, erasing a 3-run deficit in the last inning to win 14-13 over visiting Hebron. Sue Scanlon sparked Enfield with 3 runs scored and solid defense at shortstop. Kristen Flaherty pitched well for the win. Katie Robinson also pitched well for Hebron, taking the loss.
Manchester 11, Granby 1. Pitcher Stephanie Grande collected a win for Manchester with six strikeouts and giving up only one hit. Lauren Orlowski had a pair of hits. Melanie Berman, Marissa Conyers, Amy Pearl, Kathryn Howroyd, Andrea Chudzik and Stephanie Grande each had one hit. Granby pitchers Amy Rapuano and Amanda Sullivan took the loss.

Simsbury 12, East Windsor 5. After a slow start, Simbury's Rebecca Raymond pitched three scoreless innings, striking out seven. Abbey Williams (left) had a double and 3 RBI. She also pitched three innings, giving up a run in the fifth inning. Simsbury scored a run in the first but East Windsor countered with 4 in the home half of the inning. Simsbury's big inning was the top of the 7th, when they scored six runs. Jessica Szymanski pitched a strong game for East Windsor with four strikeouts. Chelsee Parker drove in two of their five runs.
West Hartford 13, East Windsor 3. (from 7/8) Jessica Montez led the offense for West Hartford with a single, triple and 2 RBIs. Jen Matthews added three hits and scored two runs. Kyla Walgren had a good defensive game. Alicia Lambert went the distance for the win, striking out seven. East Windsor's Ashley McHugh had a hit and scored their first run and Jillian Cote had a double.
Manchester 20, Hebron 9. Manchester won their fifth straight game, defeating Hebron 20-9 in six innings of play. Katie Viara and Stephanie Grande combined to pitch the win. Leading the Manchester hitters were Marisa Conyers (5 hits, including a double), Katie Viara (3 hits, including a triple) and Nicole Sapienza (3 hits). Amy Canino and Becca Mooney played well for Hebron.

Also contributing with hits were Monica Palmer, who had a 2-RBI single, Mindy Oswell, Melissa Vamvilis, Michelle Milliken, Jaclyn Shepard and Lauren Mashiak. Jaclyn Shepard turned a nice double play to end the game by tagging the runner going to second base and throwing to first for the final out. For Vernon, Megan Coughlin had a double, Hannah Koch was 2 for 4 at the plate and pitched well. Dana Carpenter had a hit and also pitched well.

Jill Toce was 3 for 5 with 4 runs scored. Chelsea Hebert had two hits and Maeve Neiswanger scored three runs for South Windsor. Morgan Caswell pitched well in relief for the Fireballs while Shari Perez played a strong defensive game in left field. Enfield catcher Megan Chipman had a solid game behind the plate and made a great catch on a foul ball up the third base line with the bases loaded to stop a rally.
Vernon 7, West Hartford 6. Vernon was able to end a late rally by West Hartford to take the game, downing West Hartford 7-6. Dana Carpenter pitched a solid game for Vernon and helped herself with two hits and two RBIs. Kendra Skoly contributed two hits and aggressive baserunning. Ashley Bloxam was also strong on the bases. Jen Matthews led the offense for West Hartford with a homerun (right) and helped the team with solid defense. Jessica Montez tripled and Emily Carbalis drove in two runs.
Enfield-Fermi 18, Suffield Rebels 3. Fermi was led by the strong pitching of Chelsea Aiken, who pitched a complete game. Lauren Little went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Shaylan Chamberland, Danielle Pellitier and Brittany Dyer each went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs apiece. Kara Chamberlain and Kirstie Albert played well for the Rebels.
Windsor 22, Hebron 1. (5 innings) Windsor downed Hebron 22-1 in 5 innings. Kim Marris called a great game and played great defense behind the plate, leading three different Windsor pitchers to victory. Andrea Varney and Abby Caron scored three runs each. Caylee Johanson and Stephanie Frenette had two hits apiece for Windsor. Jess Hayden was solid behind the plate for Hebron and Kelsey Burns had a hit and a run.

South Windsor 4, Windsor 1. Jacquie O'Brien and Jill Toce led South Windsor to a 4-1 victory at Windsor. Jacquie pitched a complete game with 14 strikeouts, allowing only one hit and facing 24 batters. She also had a key 2-out, 2-RBI double. Jill went 2 for 3 at the plate with two runs scored and caught a great game. Marianne Specker had a key 2-out RBI to break the game open, scoring Deidre Clymer with the fisrt run of South Windsor's 3-run fifth inning. Caylee Johanson pitched well in relief and had Windsor's RBI. Nicole Miller had 6 putouts at 5 different positions and Andrea Varney played well defensively for Windsor.
Granby 4, West Hartford 1. Granby defeated West Hartford by the score of 4-1 in an exciting game that was well played by both teams. Granby's pitcher, Lisa Caruso, dominated the potent West Hartford hitters by striking out 12 and walking none. She was supported by strong defensive plays in the field including a spectacular running catch by left fielder Amy Evans that saved two runs. Granby's offense was started with a triple by Kim Winalski in a two-run 3rd inning. West Hartford's pitcher, Alicia Lambert recorded 12 Ks of her own while collecting two hits and Jess Montez belted a double and scored their lone run. Kelly Allen had a good defensive game that helped keep the game close as West Hartford turned back numerous threats by Granby.
Suffield Pink 18, Suffield Rebels 0. Suffield Pink defeated the Rebels 18-0 in six innings. Team Pink had 16 hits with Jen Thresher, Jen Silva and Taylor Bartini leading the way with 3 hits each. Rebels Kathryn Kenney, Kara Chamberlain and Kirstie Albert played well in the loss.
Enfield-Fermi 17, Hebron 3. Fermi was led by Chelsea Aiken, who pitched a complete game with the help of strong defense. The Fermi offense was led by Erica Pyznar, Cassie McLenithan, Danielle Pellitier, Jessica Crank and birthday girl Shaylan Chamberland. Jess Hayden played good defense and Erica Woodward had a good overall game for Hebron.
Manchester 17, Enfield Fireballs 1. Manchester won at home against the Enfield Fireballs as Lauren Orlowski and Melanie Berman combined to pitch a 1-hit 5-inning game. Katie Viara went 3 for 3, Nicole Sapienza went 2 for 3 and Rachel Kane went 2 for 2 to lead the Manchester offense.
Vernon 12, Simsbury 3. Hannah Koch pitched the win, allowing no hits and striking out 14 batters. Danielle Baker had two hits and Andrea Golina also had a good night offensively. Simsbury's Abbey Williams pitched well and Grace Amato had a good overall game.

Manchester 15, Simsbury 0. (from 7/8) Manchester earned their 7th consecutive win behind the pitching of Katie Viara. Katie pitched a complete game, 6 inning win with 12 strikeouts. Viara also led the Manchester offense, going 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple. Amy Pearl and Lauren Orlowski continued the offensive attack with three hits apiece for Manchester. Simsbury standouts were Abbey Williams with two doubles and a single and Molly Waterman with a pair of hits.

Lindsay Mulnite and Heather St.Amour each doubled in two runs and Kelsey Mocadlo knocked in Jessie Szymanski with a double for the winning run. Casey Thibodeau pitched a great complete game for South Windsor and made a number of nice defensive plays on the mound including a great catch to end East Windsor's 6th inning rally. She also led the South offense, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Maeve Neiswanger had a double and made a nice inning-ending catch in right field. Chelsea Hebert made several nice plays at third base and had a key 2-run single. Jill Toce and Jacquie O'Brien also had good games at the plate.

Sara Cherepinsky led the South offense, going 2 for 3. Jill Toce went 1 for 3 and also played well behind the plate.
Windsor 6, Simsbury 3. The Windsor Ravens defeated Simsbury on the road behind the pitching of Caylee Johanson, with some solid relief from Tracey Sanko. Johanson had a perfect game going into the bottom of the 5th when the oppressive heat finally caught up to her. She was relieved in the 6th inning after striking out eight batters and yielding just two hits. Melissa Wilhelm had two hits for Windsor, including a solid double. Jackie Mendola had a big triple to right center and Abby Caron had a double leading off the 2nd inning and scored. Rebecca Raymond pitched a good game for Simsbury, going the distance and recording seven strikeouts. Grace Amato played well, getting the first Simsbury hit and then scoring their first run in the fifth inning. Jill Roop also added a hit and scored.
Hebron 21, Suffield Rebels 17. Hebron won their first game of the season in a hard fought game against the Rebels of Suffield. Hebron broke out to an early lead but Suffield battled back to go ahead. A 9-run sixth inning put Hebron back in the lead for good. Christina Apatow and Alicia Kureczka both scored four times for Hebron. Defensively, the battery of Katie Robinson and Alyssa Hovanec worked hard all night. The Rebels' explosive offense was spearheaded by Sam Bieleski's 3-run effort.
Somers 5, East Windsor 3. (from 7/13) Somers beat East Windsor 5-3 with Kacey Oswell pitching the complete game for the win. She also had a hit and drove in a run. Jaclyn Shepard went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and a single. Alicia Courtois (left) also went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs. Making contributions on offense were Chelsie Merone, Monica Palmer, Michelle Milliken and Mindy Oswell. East Windsor's Laura McHugh played a good game in the outfield. Ginger Starvish was solid behind the plate with Jess Szymanski pitching.
Manchester 7, East Windsor 0 (forfeit as a result of using an ineligible player; was EW 5-1). Jessica Szymanski pitched a one-hitter for the win while Manchester's Katie Viara scattered six hits in a well pitched game for both teams. East Windsor was led offensively by Ashley McHugh, who had two hits, a walk and 2 RBIs. Courtney Martin played a great game on defense. Manchester's Stephanie Grande had a strong game behind the plate and Melanie Berman doubled for their lone hit.
Windsor 13, Enfield Fireballs 5. The Ravens finished the week with their second win against the Fireballs at Welch Park. For Windsor, Tracey Sanko, Nicole Miller and Caylee Johanson combined for 11 strikeouts. Johanson fanned 5 out of the last 6 Enfield batters. Kim Marris and Jackie Mendola each went 3 for 4. Caylee Johanson reached base in all four at-bats and scored two runs. Kat Edwards played a great game on defense for the Ravens. For Enfield, Morgan Caswell pitched well in relief. Nicole Serafin had a big triple and scored a run and Nicole Delano played a great game at shortstop.
West Hartford 1, Somers 0. In a well played defsive battle, West Hartford edged Somers with Jen Matthews leading the offense with two hits and making a nice catch on defense. Emily Corbalis had a double and also made a nice throw to first base from right field for an out. Elizabeth Braunstein made a good catch out in right field. Kyla Walgren stole a base hit away from Somers on a great play up the middle with a backhanded catch and finishing with a good throw to first. Alicia Lambert pitched her second good game of the week, striking out 11 and scattering three hits in 7 innings. Somers' Kacey Oswell kept things close with a great pitching performance. Jaclyn Shepard, Lauren Mashiak and Monica Palmer each had a hit for Somers.
South Windsor 14, Suffield Rebels 1. South Windsor evened its record at 5-5 behind the pitching of Jacquie O'Brien and the hitting of Sara Cherepinsky. Jacquie pitched a complete game, allowing only two hits, two walks and striking out 14. Sara was 3 for 3 with a walk and 4 RBIs to lead the offense, assisted by Chelsea Ellington, who was 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Jordan Barile was also 2 for 4 for South Windsor. Kathryn Kenney singled for Suffield in the 7th to break up the no-hitter and Amylia O'Neill scored Suffield's run with two stolen bases.
Enfield-Fermi 13, Granby 12. Fermi beat Granby 13-12, led by Dora Butler's 4 RBIs and the defensive play of Lauren Little and Melissa Madsen. Chelsea Aiken pitched effectively to get the win. Granby was led by Andrea Bastiaanse and Amanda Sullivan, who each hit doubles. Alexis Mattia and Amber Antiuk pitched well for Granby.
Suffield Pink 8, Simsbury 0. Suffield Pink defeated Simsbury in a very well played game by both teams. Jen Thresher was outstanding at shortstop for Team Pink, making numerous plays including tagging a runner on the way by and then throwing to first to complete a terrific double play. Barbara Kaplan also had a tremendous defensive game at third, making numerous putouts including a great catch and tag on a runner trying to go from first to third on a single to center. Kalleigh Peterson had the play of the game while at first base, catching a ball over her shoulder while running back behind the bag and then turning and firing home to nail the runner at the plate to preserve the shutout for the Pink. Simsbury's Rebecca Raymond pitched well but took the loss.
Vernon 12, Hebron 0. Kendra Skoly had a strong overall game for Vernon, both on offense and defense. Brianna Weaver collected two hits. Dana Carpenter and Hannah Koch combined on the pitching. Katie Robinson pitched well for Hebron while Kelsey Burns led the defense.
Manchester 7, Somers 1. Manchester topped Somers 7-1 in extra innings. Only two Manchester players had hits in the first seven innings - Amy Pearl and Ann Rosenstreich with two apiece. The Manchester bats came alive in the eighth inning, sparking a six-hit spree which scored the six runs that decided the game. Katie Viara pitched a solid game for Manchester, chalking up 14 strikeouts. Somers pitcher Kacey Oswell played well, holding Manchester to only four hits and one run in seven innings. Jaclyn Shepard and Katie Trask each had a hit for Somers.

South Windsor 3, Simsbury 2. South Windsor's Alyssa Wolejko and Simsbury's Rebecca Raymond both pitched complete games in a very well played game by both teams. Alyssa struck out 11, including the last two players with the tieing run on third base. Rebecca also recorded 11 strikeouts. The game was tied 1-1 entering the 7th inning. Marianne Specker broke the game open with a triple in the 7th inning, scoring the lead run. Jordan Barile made several key plays at shortstop and scored what proved to be the winning run after reaching base on a walk. Jen Hunt led the South Windsor defense with 5 assists, including 3 caught stealing, as well as going 1 for 3 at the plate. Jill Roop played well defensively at catcher for Simsbury and Shaney Ballentine had a key hit leading to one of Simsbury's runs.
Vernon 13, Granby 3. Dana Carpenter pitched the win. Sarah Browning led the offense with two hits and 3 RBIs. She also threw out two baserunners. Hannah Koch pitched well in relief and scored three runs for Vernon. For Granby, Amanda Sullivan pitched well & had two hits and an RBI. Julie Marks also pitched well. The defense was led by Amy Evans.
Windsor 28, Enfield-Fermi 0. The Ravens defeated Fermi on the road in a 5-inning shortened game behind the shutout pitching of Caylee Johanson. Johanson threw a 2-hitter and struck out nine batters. For Windsor, Stephanie Frenette, Andrea Varney, Kim Marris and Melissa Wilhelm each had three hits. Amanda Ziaks, Kim Marris (right) and Andrea Varney each scored four runs. Dora Butler and Danielle Pelletier had the Fermi hits and Jess Crank played well defensively behind the plate.
Somers 17, Suffield Rebels 1. Somers calmed the Rebels 17-1 behind Kacey Oswell's 3-hit, 6-strikeout pitching effort. Leading the attack for Somers were Monica Palmer (4 hits), Alicia Courtois (3 hits), Michelle Milliken (2 hits) and Kacey Oswell (2 hits). Mindy Oswell, Jaclyn Shepard and Kara McGuane each had one hit. For Suffield, Kathryn Spencer had a hit and an RBI. Sam Bieleski and Kathryn Kenney had the other Rebel hits.
Enfield Fireballs 6, East Windsor 4. Morgan Caswell pitched 5 strong innings while chipping in with 2 singles and 2 runs scored, leading the Fireballs to a 6-4 victory over East Windsor. Sue Scanlon and Megan Chipman played well defensively. Courtney Cannella sealed the win, pitching the last two innings in relief, facing only seven batters. The East Windsor offense was led by Jillian Cote, with two hits and two runs scored, followed by Courtney Martin with two hits and Karissa Parker, with a single and a double.
Manchester 15, West Hartford 5. Manchester topped West Hartford 15-5. The Manchester bats were on fire with several players having a multiple hit game: Lauren Orlowski (3), Melanie Berman (3), Marisa Conyers (2), Katie Viara (2), Maura Bergan (2), Amy Pearl (2) and Nicole Sapienza (2). The West Hartford hitters were led by Lindsey Toper and Jessica Bello with two apiece.
Suffield Pink 7, Hebron 0. (forfeit)
Granby 13, Suffield Rebels 7. After two delays due to lightning in the area, the clouds finally parted and Granby subdued the Rebels by the score of 13 to 7. Suffield jumped to an early 5-1 lead but Granby battled back behind timely hitting by Amanda Sullivan (4 RBIs) and a 2-run single by Amy Evans. Granby catcher Courtney McGuire threw out four runners at second and third attempting to steal. Julie Marks came in to pitch in relief of Sullivan and kept the Suffield batters at bay. Centerfielder Kara Chamberlain and pitcher Caitlin Brault turned in fine defensive efforts for Suffield.

South Windsor 14, Granby 4. (from 7/8) South Windsor defeated Granby 14-4 behind Alyssa Wolejko, who pitched a complete game with ten strikeouts. Jill Toce's bases-clearing triple broke the game open in the 4th inning. Jill was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Jordan Barile was 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs as well. Colleen Clark, Maeve Neiswanger and Sara Cherepinsky scored three runs apiece for South Windsor. Granby's Alexis Mattia led their offense, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Courtney McGuire had an excellant defensive game at catcher while Amy Evans was solid at first base and chipped in with a single.
Suffield Pink 10, East Windsor 3. (from 7/11) Suffield Pink defeated East Windsor 10-3 in a well played game by both teams. Whitney Mackay was the defensive standout for Pink, making a number of fine plays in right field. She also had a 2-RBI single in the first inning to get Pink off to a fast start. Ashley McHugh led the offense for East Windsor, going 3 for 4 with a double and two singles. Chelsee Parker was solid on defense and Heather St.Amour pitched well in relief.
Windsor 3, Vernon 2. (from 7/8) Windsor edged Vernon in a well played game at Vernon Center Middle School. Tracey Sanko went the distance for the Ravens, striking out 11 batters and yielding just 5 hits. Jackie Mendole went 2 for 3, including a triple, and scored the winning run for Windsor. Amanda Ross and Nina Varney also played a good game for Windsor. The Ravens only managed four hits off Hannah Koch, who also pitched a complete game with five strikeouts. Vernon's leadoff batter, Ashley Bloxam, played a great game, including scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the first and Sarah Browning caught a good game and had a nice base hit.
Suffield Rebels 9, Enfield Fireballs 8. (from 7/8) The Suffield Rebels defeated Enfield in a very closely fought battle. Kara Chamberlain and Sam Bieleski played well for Suffield. Shari Perez and Amber Reynolds each scored two runs for Enfield. Megan Chipman played well on defense.
Simsbury 11, Hebron 4. (from 7/22) Simsbury downed Hebron 11-4 as Jenna Marhefki played outstanding defense, making four key plays. Abbey Williams pitched four strong innings for Simsbury, striking out five. For Hebron, Alison Wenzel was solid at second base and Christina Apatow played excellant defense at third base with five strong plays.
East Windsor 14, Enfield Fireballs 1. (from 7/27) Jessica Szymanski pitched her second one-hitter of the season for East Windsor. Offensively, Chelsee and Karissa Parker each scored three runs, and Heather St.Amour and Jillian Cote each had 3 RBIs. Laura McHugh was a defensive standout throughout the game. For Enfield, Morgan Caswell came on in relief and pitched four strong innings. Courtney Cannella reached base twice and broke up the no-hitter with a single in the sixth inning. Nicole Delano was a defensive standout at shortstop, and closed the game on the mound for the Fireballs.
Suffield Pink 7, Vernon 3. (from 7/6) Suffield Pink defeated Vernon 7-3 in a very well played divisional game. April McWha had another fine outing on the mound and helped herself with a first inning homerun, driving in the game's first two runs. Kalleigh Peterson had another outstanding defensive game at first base, and had a solid night at the plate, hitting a double and scoring a run. Vernon's Megan Coughlin had a double and scored a run and Brianna Weaver had a big night at the plate, homering and driving in two runs.
Somers 13, Granby 1. (from 7/6) Visiting Somers downed Granby 13-1 behind the pitching of Kacey Oswell, who gave up just two hits, both to Amanda Sullivan. Leading Somers with two hits was Kara McGuane, followed by Lauren Mashiak, Monica Palmer, Jaclyn Shepard and Mindy Oswell with one hit apiece. Defensively, Alicia Courtois made two nice catches at second base and Michelle Milliken kept busy at first base. For Granby, Amber Antiuk played well defensively and Amanda Sullivan, Julie Marks and Kim Winalski all pitched well.
Somers 17, Hebron 3. (from 7/8) Kacey Oswell went the distance for Somers with a 17-3 win over visiting Hebron. Mindy Oswell had a double and two singles, while Lauren Mashiak had three singles and made a great line drive catch at first base and doubled off the runner. Jaclyn Shepard and Katie Trask each had a single and a triple. Kara McGuane and Monica Palmer chipped in with a single and a double each. Alicia Courtois had two singles and made a great catch over the back at second base. Michelle Milliken had a long triple to left field. For Hebron, Katie Robinson pitched well and contributed with a hit. Jen Rey had two hits and Chrissy Swider also had a hit.
Simsbury 15, Enfield Fireballs 5. (from 7/6) Simsbury defeated the Enfield Fireballs 15-5 in Enfield. Molly Waterman and Jill Roop, who also had an excellant game at catcher, each scored three runs. Britni Siana and Shari Perez both had stellar defensive games for the Fireballs. The score was close in the early going but Simsbury broke it open with a 6-run fourth inning.
Enfield-Fermi 6, Suffield Pink 2. (from 7/8) Fermi beat Suffield Pink led by the strong pitching of Amanda Farnan, who recored 10 strikeouts. She also helped her cause with three hits, as did Jess Crank. April McWha and Sam Cieri both pitched well for Suffield. Michele Niejadlik had an awesome homerun to keep the game close.
West Hartford 7, Windsor 4 (9 innings). (from 7/6) In a tight back and forth game, West Hartford came out with the win in 9 innings. Jen Matthews had a double and 2 RBIs and Jess Montez also had a double. Gloria Torres had a key atbat in the top of the ninth inning with runners at first and third with two out. She put down a good bunt on a suicide squeeze play that resulted in two runs. Alicia Lambert pitched a complete game, striking out ten. For Windsor, Jackie Mendola had two hits, Abby Caron added a hit and Caylee Johanson pitched a good game to keep it close.
Granby 5, Suffield Rebels 3. (from 7/17)
Manchester 10, Hebron 2. (from 7/27) Manchester topped Hebron 10-2 with Amy Pearl and Katie Viara getting three hits apiece and Stephanie Grande contributing two. Hebron's runs were scored by Jen Rey and Chrissy Swider. Becca Mooney played solid defense at first base.
Suffield Rebels 7, East Windsor 0 (forfeit as a result of using an ineligible player; was EW 15-2). (from 7/6) East Windsor bested the Rebels as Lindsey Mulnite had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Courtney Martin had 3 hits and scored 3 times and winning pitcher Heather St.Amour also scored 3 runs. Kate Spencer and Caitlin Brault paced the Suffield offense, with Kate going 3 for 3. Defensively the Rebels were led by Kathryn Kenney and Brynn Scozzari.
Suffield Pink 18, Somers 0. (completion of game suspended 7/27 at Suffield) Leading 12-0 when the game was suspended after 2 innings, Pink picked up where they left off and cpmpleted the shutout, winning 18-0. Mel Chapman reached safely in 4 atbats with 2 singles and 2 walks, scoring two runs. Sam Cieri was also perfect at the plate, going 3 for 3 with two doubles, a single and 3 RBIs. Mindy Oswell pitched well in relief for Somers. Michelle Milliken and Alicia Courtois each had good games at the plate.
Suffield Pink 12, Somers 8. (from 7/15) Somers jumped out to an early 8-1 lead behind Jaclyn Shepard's outstanding night at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a double, two singles and 3 RBIs. Monica Palmer also had a strong night at the plate, going 2 for 3 and a walk. But in the end, the night belonged to Pink. Down 8-1 in the top of the sixth inning, the Pink offense exploded with 13 straight hits and 11 runs, ultimately putting the game out of reach for stunned Somers. For this particular game, the recognition for outstanding performance has to go to Team Pink. Overcoming their biggest deficit of the season in such a dramatic fashion and with a total team contribution, it would be impossible to single out any one player. Congratulations Team Pink and great game.

(from 6/29) East Windsor pitcher Heather St.Amour allowed only two hits over 5 innings while batterymate Jill Cote doubled and Chelsee Parker collected two hits. For Hebron, Alicia Kureczka, Amy Canino and Alison Wenzel had strong games on the field and at the plate.
Somers 7, Windsor 4. (from 6/22) Kacey Oswell pitched a complete game in the 7-4 win over visiting Windsor. Leading the offense for Somers were Monica Palmer (single, double, 2 RBIs), Mindy Oswell (2 singles, RBI), Kacey Oswell (2 singles), Michelle Milliken (single, RBI), Nicole Vamvilis (single, RBI), Kara McGuane (single) and Melissa Vamvilis (single). For Windsor, Amanda Ziaks had two singles, Jackie Mendola tripled and Kat Edwards singled and also made a nice catch in the outfield.
Manchester 15, Enfield-Fermi 2. (from 6/29) Katie Viara (14Ks) pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits. Andrea Chudzik (3 singles) and Melanie Berman (double and two singles) led the Manchester offense followed by Amy Pearl and Katie Viara with a triple and a single each. Chelsea Aiken and Leehna Ware shared the pitching duties for Fermi while Jess Crank played a solid defensive game behind the plate.
South Windsor 5, Vernon 3. (from 7/27) South Windsor defeated Vernon 5-3 in the final regular season game for both teams. South was led by the pitching combination of Alyssa Wolejko (3 shutout innings with six strikeouts) and Jacquie O'Brien (left), who faced the minimum of 9 batters in the last three innings. Alyssa also made two nice plays at third base to preserve the victory. Rachel Clymer (2 runs scored) and Alicia Morrison (single, sacrifice, run scored) led the South Windsor offense. Danielle Baker led the Vernon team with an RBI, a sacrifice bunt, a run scored and a fantastic leaping catch at shortstop. Dana Carpenter pitched well for Vernon and Nicole Albertson had a good game at the plate.
West Hartford 10, Simsbury 4. (from 7/27)
Windsor 6, Enfield-Fermi 5. (from 7/27) Windsor defeated Fermi to finish up the regular season for both teams behind a solid pitching performance from Nicole Miller with some relief help from Tracey Sanko. For the Ravens, Andrea Varney and Kim Marris each had two hits and Tracey Sanko had an inside-the-park homer with a big hit deep to right field. Fermi got strong pitching from Chelsea Aiken, who went the distance. Chris Sheehan had two hits, including a big double, and Jess Crank also had a big double for Fermi.
