Northern Connecticut Girls' Softball League
** 2001 U-16 Tournament Team **
The Northern Connecticut Stars(team photo), a selected team of players representing NCGSL, participated in the "BlackWidows Fastpitch By The Sea" tournament held in West Haven the weekend of July 28-29th. Players selected to the team after tryouts were Victoria Butler (Stafford), Tawny Boulanger and Melissa DeBarge (Vernon), Rebecca Fuller (Tolland), Tara Heffernan (Ellington), Sarah Hills (Somers), Deedee Presser and Jess Doane (Suffield), Kim Trimble (Simsbury) and Danielle Spiro, Amanda Boileau and Jess Oliva (South Windsor). Coaches were Marc Oliva and Mark Lassman (South Windsor), Dean Hills (Somers) and Johanne Presser (Suffield). Congratulations to the inaugural members of the Northern Connecticut Stars. You all played extremely well and did a tremendous job as representatives of NCGSL !!

Results of Sunday's Games:
8:00AM (1st Round) #9 seed N.C.Stars 9, #8 seed Fairfield Blaze 0. Rebecca Fuller and Sarah Hills combined on the shutout. Deedee Presser scored two runs and Kim Trimble led the defense.
11:30AM (Quarter-Final) #1 seed Xtreme Chaos 3, #9 seed N.C.Stars 2. Tori Butler had two hits and an RBI. Jess Oliva and Rebecca Fuller both pitched well.
- Saturday's results determined seeding for single-elimination bracket on Sunday. The top four teams received first round byes.
Other U-16 teams competing: Black Widows (hosts), Vermont Lady Cats, Shrub Oak Storm, Norwalk Mariners, East Fishkill Challenge, Hudson River Bandits and Connecticut Wildfire.
The tournament champions were Xtreme Chaos. Their only non-win of the weekend was the tie game with the N.C.Stars on Saturday.
