** 2010 U-16 League Tournament **

- CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
West Hartford 13, South Windsor 5. The West Hartford Fury overcame an early deficit to defeat a determined South Windsor team in the championship game. In their fourth game of a long day, South Windsor came out swinging, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning behind hits from Taylor Mulcahy and Kileigh Nassau. West Hartford answered with a pair in the bottom of the first with key hits from Becky Hoisl, Melissa Martucci and Mallory Martucci. The runs kept coming as South Windsor capitalized for three more in the top of the second inning to take a 5-2 lead and put West Hartford on the ropes, again led by hits from Mulcahy and Nassau. Pitcher Brooke Stoker did a great job of keeping West Hartford hitters off balance early as South Windsor held the 5-2 advantage until the fourth inning, when West Hartford rallied to tie the game with leadoff hits by Melissa Martucci and Dani Stevens and an RBI-double from Jessica Dufault. Dufault came on to pitch for West Hartford in relief of Courtney Daley and kept South Windsor scoreless the rest of the game. With the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 5th inning, the Fury broke things open with an RBI-double from Caroline Karanian, followed by a two-run homerun by Becky Hoisl and an RBI-double from Mallory Martucci to take a 9-5 lead. West Hartford sealed the championship in the sixth, fueled by hits from Dufault, Jackie Carter, Noelle Ouellette, Jenn Lohneiss and Karanian. Hoisl finished things off with her second homerun of the game, a first in NCGSL tournament history. Outstanding performers for South Windsor were Taylor Mulcahy (2 hits), Kileigh Nassau (3 hits), Amanda Morehardt (double) and Brooke Stoker (4 innings of great pitching). Outstanding performers for the tournament champions were Becky Hoisl (2 homeruns, 5 RBI, 3 runs scored), Melissa Martucci (3 hits, 3 runs scored), Mallory Matucci (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Jessica Dufault (3 hits, winning pitcher). Ali Stevens, Sarah Allen, Cassidy Grinsell and Amanda Augustinsen each had a tremendous tournament for West Hartford. The West Hartford Fury were coached by Mark Stankoski, Ron Martucci, Gary Mendal and Tim Keefe. The South Windsor tournament team, coached by Rich Strong and Kent Moquin, also included Jenny Belanger, Danielle Benito, Hayley Moquin, Lina Nguyen, Maddy Silverman, Kelly Sivo, Alyson Stearns, Katie Strong, Arielle Thomas and Brooke Wolejko.
